NYCEDC has led the effort to develop a Sunset Park Waterfront Vision Plan, with input and collaboration from elected officials, community organizations and local businesses, and with guidance from the Brooklyn Community Board 7. The Vision Plan sets forth recommendations for investment over the next twenty years, with a focus on short-term, implementable projects. The waterfront includes green spaces, immersive retail, and public art installations, the diverse mix of culture and locally born businesses is as authentic a New York experience as it gets.
BCG is the community construction liaison firm which provides community outreach services by actively working with the project team and subcontractors, community groups, residents, businesses, and essential agencies to ensure that there is an open flow of communication. We developed and coordinated a detailed outreach plan which includes all of the projects stakeholders, provides the community with updates on the crucial infrastructure upgrades underway and the progress of the construction on critical infrastructure including catch basin replacements that may impact residents and businesses alike. We meet with Community Boards, local community-based organizations, elected officials, city-wide advocates, property owners, utility companies, conduct large public meetings and workshops to inform, communicate, and collect feedback from a broad swath of community members. We deliver other engagement opportunities such as site tours, online platforms, social media, online feedback gathering, engagement with media outlets and other types of outreach. We provide ongoing Community Construction Liaison services for the construction management team and work closely with stakeholders like Industry City, a vibrant creative hub organization along the scenic waterfront of Sunset Park.
